Have you tried to do a hard reset? That may fix the problem

HP Recommended

How do I do that? And will it delete things from the laptop?

thanks for your reply

HP Recommended

No it will not....hard reset is simply hold down power button 30 seconds with no power supply attached. It is not the same as a cell phone reset.

Follow this instruction in this document to try it out.

I can’t tell if it’s done a hard reset because it did nothing when I pressed power button for 30 seconds it only switched on when it was off or turned off when it was on

sorry I’m so clueless

HP Recommended

Try this out for hard reset:

For most Chromebooks, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn off your Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Refresh + tap Power
  3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh

I’ve done this, still doesn’t work! Will I be better off just getting a wireless mouse?

HP Recommended

Yes, a wireless mouse can be used in this case. Try it out and see if it works.

I’ve got a wireless mouse as of today, still doesn’t work!! It’s driving me insane and can’t seem to get hold of an actual person from HP to discuss the issue the virtual agent is useless!
