Hi @urmom11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding chromebook's camera!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your Chromebook's camera is not working and the toggle in settings is disabled, try these steps to fix it:

Restart Your Chromebook

  • Click the clock in the bottom-right corner → Select Power off.
  • Turn it back on and check if the camera works.

Check Chromebook Camera Permissions

  1. Open Settings → Click Privacy and Security.
  2. Click Site settings → Scroll to Camera.
  3. Make sure the correct camera is selected and allowed.
  4. If it says "Blocked", toggle it On.

Enable Camera from Flags (Advanced)

  1. Open Chrome browser.
  2. In the address bar, type: chrome://flags
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Search for Camera and make sure it is Enabled.
  5. Restart your Chromebook.

Try a Different App

  • Open Chrome Camera App (search for "Camera" in the launcher).
  • If it doesn't work, try a video call on Google Meet, Zoom, or Skype.
  • If it works on one app but not another, the issue might be app-specific.

Check for ChromeOS Updates

  1. Open Settings → Click About ChromeOS.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
  3. Restart your Chromebook.

Reset Permissions for Camera

  1. Open Chrome browser.
  2. Type: chrome://settings/content/camera
  3. Click Reset permissions.
  4. Restart the Chromebook.

Perform a Hardware Reset

  1. Turn off your Chromebook.
  2. Hold Refresh (🔄) + Power for 10 seconds.
  3. Release the keys and turn it on.

Powerwash (Factory Reset) - Last Resort

⚠️ This will erase all data on your Chromebook!

  1. Go to SettingsAdvancedReset settings.
  2. Click PowerwashRestart.

If none of these steps work, your camera might be hardware faulty. Let me know if you need more help! 😊
