Hp envy 15-es0501sa warranty 1y1y0y. Will not turn on. The button lights up the fan kicks in and the underside gets warm but no display. If I fold it into the touch screen pad the button will not light up and nothing kicks in.

Hi @Normy07,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • When the screen stays black, is there any faint glow from the display, or is it completely dark?
  • Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor or TV? If so, does it show anything?
  • When you press Caps Lock or Num Lock, do any of the indicator lights respond (blinking or turning on)?
  • Did this issue start right after the first setup, or had the laptop worked normally before?

Troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger.
  2. Hold the power button for 15 seconds to force a full shutdown.
  3. Reconnect the charger and turn it on again.

2. Try an External Display

  • Use HDMI or USB-C (if supported).
  • Turn on the laptop → wait 10 seconds → press Windows + P a few times (or Fn + F4 depending on model) to cycle display modes.

This helps determine if the internal screen is the problem.

3. Check for Display Backlight Failure

  • Turn on the laptop.
  • Shine a flashlight at the screen from an angle if you see faint text or shapes, the backlight isn’t working.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!

I tried everything you suggested and the thing that brought it back to life was the “hold the power button for 15 seconds with the power disconnected”. Thanks for your response. I hope it keeps going now.
