I have a new HP All-in-one desktop 27-cr0xxx and I cannot run extended dispalys on the USB C? it states there may be limited use

What is your 27-cr0xxx machine ? It should have SAME ports as the following machine

 

               HP All-in-One 27-cr0023na 

 

It ONLY has one useless  1 USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode therefore you can NOT connect it to an external monitor.

 

It does NOT have HDMI out port therefore if you wish, you can use a DisplayLink Certified USB to HDMI adapter such as

 

                USB to HDMI Adapter
