Hi @bryanglass74,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reinstall your HP True Vision 5MP Camera, follow these steps:
Step 1: Check for Automatic Reinstallation
- Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting can prompt Windows to detect and reinstall the camera automatically.
- Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
- Look for Imaging Devices or Cameras. If the camera is listed there with a yellow exclamation mark, right-click it and select Update Driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Step 2: Manually Install Drivers
- Visit HP Support:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your laptop model or search for the HP True Vision 5MP Camera.
- Download Drivers:
- Look for the driver related to the camera and download it.
- Install the Driver:
- Once downloaded, open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
Step 3: Use Windows Settings
- Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Privacy: Click on Privacy > Camera.
- Check Permissions: Make sure that camera access is allowed for the device and apps.
Step 4: Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings: Press Windows + I again.
- Go to Update & Security: Click on Windows Update.
- Check for Updates: Install any pending updates, as they may include necessary drivers.
Step 5: Restart the Computer Again
After reinstalling the drivers or making changes, restart your computer to ensure everything is properly set up.
Step 6: Test the Camera
- Open the Camera app (type "Camera" in the Windows search bar) to see if it’s working.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
