Hi @Kev_P,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that the HP USB C Dock G5 is not working with your laptop's USB C port. There could be several reasons for this issue. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Compatibility: Ensure that your laptop is compatible with the HP USB C Dock G5. Check the dock's specifications and compare them with your laptop's specifications to ensure they are compatible.
  • Drivers and firmware: Make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for both your laptop and the docking station. Visit the HP support website and search for your specific laptop model and the docking station model to find the latest drivers and firmware updates.
  • Cable and connections: Check the USB C cable connecting the docking station to your laptop. Ensure that the cable is securely plugged into both the docking station and the laptop's USB C port. Try using a different USB C cable to see if the issue persists.
  • Power supply: Verify that the docking station is receiving adequate power. Some docking stations require a separate power adapter to function correctly. Make sure the power adapter is connected and functioning correctly.
  • BIOS settings: Check your laptop's BIOS settings to ensure that the USB C port is enabled and configured correctly. You may need to consult your laptop's user manual or contact the laptop manufacturer's support for guidance on accessing and modifying BIOS settings.
  • Other devices: Test the USB C port on your laptop with other USB C devices to confirm if the issue is specific to the docking station. If other USB C devices work correctly, it suggests a compatibility issue with the docking station.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
