Hi @NikolaiStevens,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Locate and Toggle the Webcam Privacy Switch

Your model might come with a webcam privacy switch or shutter key that turns the webcam off and on.

Webcam Privacy Switch: Usually located on the side of your computer or next to the camera.

Webcam Shutter Key: Located on the action key row of your keyboard.

Make sure these are in the "on" position.

2. Verify Webcam Access Settings in Windows

For Windows 11:

  1. Right-click the Start button, click Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Ensure the setting in the Camera access section is set to On.
  3. Under Let apps access your camera, ensure that the apps you want to have access to the webcam are set to On.

For Windows 10:

  1. Open the Start menu, click Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  2. In the Allow apps to access your camera section, make sure the setting is turned On.
  3. Set your preferred apps to On or Off.

3. Software and Driver Update

Update through HP Support Assistant:

  1. Search for and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Select Updates on the My Dashboard tab.
  3. Wait for the analysis to complete and install any available updates.
  4. Restart the computer if prompted.

Run Windows Update:

  1. Search for and open Check for updates.
  2. Install the available updates and restart your computer.

4. Uninstall and Reinstall Webcam Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging devices and right-click your camera.
  3. Select Uninstall device and check Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
  4. Click Action > Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.
  5. Reinstall the driver or allow Windows to reinstall it automatically by scanning for hardware changes.

5. Use the Camera App to Test the Webcam

  1. Search for and open Camera from the taskbar search box.
  2. Test if the camera works in the Camera app.

I hope this helps.
