If it is. What do I do? What is the right part to replace a cracked touch screen. It works and responds, but the crack makes it click things it shouldn't,.

It is not in warranty and HP have said they will stop supporting this model, it seems because there is engineering faults with it 😞

If all fails and I have no other options Would this work? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GKJ53BD/?coliid=I26CANSY0F3D64&colid=N85E0Y63PSY8&psc=1

Can I do it myself or take it to a shop to ask them to put it on?

It was never dropped i dont know how it cracked its a small hairline one - the hinge is slightly loose. It stays on my desk. Obviously not been anywhere because of covid. From searching I see this is a common problem with this device. Is HP doing anything for it? Is it worth fixing at all :(?

@sgsgsgs

Unless you have a lot of personal experience replacing parts like this on laptops, you will not be able to repair it yourself without risking major damage to it.

We are not able, or permitted, to provide any repair estimates or equipment prices.

For this information, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.

Since you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/us-en/service-center

If that link does not provide you sufficient information, then use the main HP link:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true

I've found those links to be unreliable if you're using Win10 and the new Edge Browser; so if you are, you need to use something else, like FireFox.

Good Luck

Hi,

Yes, probably a problem with the hinge which has caused other issues.

The official fix would be to replace the Screen, the hinges, and whichever part the hinges are coming loose from. (LCD back cover or the topcover/keyboard part)

On pages 53 and 58 of the service manual, you can see where the hinges are placed.

Part numbers you can find on pages 17 and 22

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05527167.pdf

The screen for example would have part number 925736-001

You can try an online search with part number and find compatible parts (the one u linked is for 15-bq) and see if you think it is worth it.

If you use it only at home you could get a 27-inch screen and use it with that (wireless keyboard and mouse) and deactivate the internal touchscreen.

You could deactivate the touch screen and see if the "ghost" touching still occurs.

Hope it helps,

David

I'm not asking for any prices - just if it's even reparable and what i repair it with. Even if I don't do it myself I just need to know what it is I am replacing.

There are no HP repair or services centers in the entire country (UK) nothing comes up. Only printer support.

Thanks David I'll try that part number and the guide. I've deactivated the touchscreen already but ideally hope to get it fixed. Thank you

You're welcome.

It can be a really expensive fix.

Take care,

David
