Hello,
Does anyone know if my HP laptop (HP Pavilion 15 eh1254 ng) supports the usage of MST (Multi-Stream-Transport) via the USB C port?
I want to connect my Laptop to a USB C hub/docking station so that I can extend my laptop screen to 2 further monitors.
I thought about buying a hub like this:
Thank you very much!
Best regards
Max

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07214399
It has a good SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) port. I can't say it is compatible with your USB-C hub or not but I know for sure it is a good candidate for HP USB-C G5 (5TW10AA) dock.
Regards.

Hello BH,
thank you for your quick response!
On this website: https://tripplite.eaton.com/products/multi-stream-transport-mst-hub-technology
it is said that for a MST connection I will need:
- (1) Graphics card (GPU) supporting DisplayPort (1.2 or better) MST
- (2) An MST Hub
- (3) Monitors compatible with your selected Hub
(1) As you already mentioned, my computer has a SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) so therefore my Graphics card (GPU) has to be sufficient as my computer is supporting DisplayPort™ 1.4 .
Am I right? (I am not very computer/IT savvy..)
(2) Buying a fitting MST Hub shouldn't be a big problem.
(3) Both my montitors have 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 as well as 1 x HDMI 1.4. So that should not be a problem either.
Thank you very much!
Best regards
Max
