HP Elite X2 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There have been a few posts in the past regarding the following issue - sadly these had no resolutions, but I believe I've found the cause of the screen going blank (or extreamly dimmed) as soon as you log in to windows (either via Hello or a passcode).

Issue #1- Multiple HP Elite x2 1012 G2's - Screen Black, Device Unresponsive

Issue #2 - Issue with the HP Elite X2 1012 G2 Screen

In my case, the Intel Graphics Command Center has power settings, which affect the display (they say it enhances things, sadly not the case). To fix this this do the following.

  1. Open the command center, and select the System option
  2. Select the Power pane from the top menu panes
  3. Scroll down to power settings and ensure the following are toggled off
    1. Adaptive brightness
    2. Panel self refresh
    3. Display power savings
    4. Enhanced power saving

After these are toggled off, the display stays on until Windows settings take effect (e.g. < 5% battery device goes to sleep).

Hope this helps, it's taken me two years of searching to resolve this.
