when an external monitor connected to Laptop using HDMI cable it is using NVdia GPU automatically and consuming laptop battery power quickly, which I don't wanted. because my work on EXTERNAL screen is very limited. when we run like video or anything on external monitor, I am clearly able to see GPU1 performance parameter in Taskbar is spiking. so it is clear that ext monitor is using only Nvdia gpu and also connected to Nvdia Gpu only
My laptop screen normally using only internal GPU,
Now we connected external monitor using HDMI cable , so my laptop screen is 1 and ext monitor is 2
Now still the laptop screen using only internal GPU only
when ever I moved the mouse to external monitor and doing any kind of work ,the external monitor using Nvdia graphics at the same time laptop monitor is with internal GPU only
so summary is
Laptop monitor connected to Internal Gpu
external monitor connected to Nvdia GPU at the same time ( see screenshots)
but what I need is both monitors to be connected to internal GPU only , based on the task they should switch
laptop model:- 15-fa1327TX
HP Victus 15 Intel Core i5 13th Gen 13420H
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050

Hi @cruise222,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To have both your laptop monitor and the external monitor use the integrated GPU rather than the NVIDIA GPU, you can adjust the settings to prevent the external monitor from defaulting to the dedicated GPU. Here's how you might approach this.
For Windows 10/11
Set Preferred GPU for Applications:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel."
- Go to "Manage 3D settings" on the left side.
- Click on the "Program Settings" tab.
- From the drop-down menu, select the application you want to configure or add a new one.
- Set "Preferred graphics processor" to "Integrated graphics".
- Click "Apply" to save the changes.
Adjust Global Settings:
- In the "NVIDIA Control Panel," go to "Manage 3D settings".
- Under the "Global Settings" tab, set the "Preferred graphics processor" to "Integrated graphics."
- Click "Apply".
Windows Graphics Settings:
- Open "Settings" by pressing Windows Key + I.
- Go to "System" > "Display."
- Scroll down and click "Graphics settings."
- Choose the application or game you want to configure, and select "Options."
- Set it to "Power saving" which uses the integrated GPU.
- Click "Save."
For NVIDIA Optimus Technology
If your laptop uses NVIDIA Optimus technology, it should automatically switch between the integrated and dedicated GPUs based on the load. However, this isn't always perfect, and you might need to manually adjust settings.
BIOS Settings (Advanced)
In some cases, you might need to adjust settings in the BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, Esc, or Del during boot).
- Look for settings related to Graphics or Display.
- Set the graphics option to "Integrated" or "UMA" (Unified Memory Architecture) if available.
- Save and exit the BIOS.

Additional Notes:
- Battery Saver Mode: Using battery saver mode can sometimes force the use of the integrated GPU.
- Power Settings: Ensure your laptop’s power settings are set to "Power Saver" or "Balanced" rather than "High Performance." This can sometimes help in keeping the integrated GPU active.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

@ALDEN4
ALL YOUR METHODS MENTIONED ALREADY TRIED.
ALL THE SETTINGS ARE IN INTEGRATED GRAPHICS ONLY.
AND I TRIED AGAIN ALSO ALL YOUR METHODS ONCE AGAIN
BUT THE LAST BIOS ONE ALSO BEFORE, BUT I AM UNABLE TO FIND ADVANCED BIOS SETTINGS
WHEN OPENING BIOS , THERE IS NO ADVANCED BIOS SETTINGS. IT MAY BE DISABLED
BIOS VENDOR - AMI
BIOS REVISION - F.15
HELP ME TO LOCATE OR ENABLE THE ADVANCE BIOS IN BELOW LAPTOP MODEL MENTIONED
THEN I CAN TRY CHANGING MONITOR GRAPHICS CARD

Hi @cruise222,
Thank you for your response,
Since the advanced BIOS settings might be hidden or disabled, here's how you might be able to access or enable them.
Accessing Advanced BIOS Settings
Access BIOS Setup:
- Restart your laptop.
- As soon as the HP logo appears, press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
Enable Advanced Settings:
- Some HP laptops have limited BIOS settings, and advanced options might not be available.
- Look for an option like "Advanced" or "Advanced Mode." This option is often hidden under a simpler BIOS interface.
- If no advanced options are available, you may need to check if there’s a BIOS update that could unlock additional settings.
BIOS Update:
- Check HP’s support website for your laptop model (HP Victus 15, model 15-fa1327TX) to see if there’s a BIOS update available. Updating the BIOS might unlock additional settings.
- Be cautious with BIOS updates; follow the instructions carefully to avoid issues.
Integrated vs. Dedicated GPU Settings:
- In Windows, open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Navigate to Manage 3D Settings and select the Program Settings tab.
- Choose the program you want to set to use the integrated GPU.
- Set the preferred graphics processor to Integrated Graphics.
Using Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Display.
- Scroll down to Graphics settings.
- Choose Classic app or Universal app based on what you want to set.
- Browse and select the application, then set it to use the Power saving GPU (integrated GPU).
Unfortunately, if the BIOS does not provide options for switching the GPU for external monitors, your ability to change this setting may be limited by the hardware and BIOS capabilities of your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
