HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15-ee0002na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

I have an issue, that I think may have started when Windows 11 upgraded, this may be a coincidence.

Basically if I shut the lid the computer sleeps, re-open and I can sign in.

If I shut the lid whilst the laptop is charging, when I re-open the lid I can sign in.

If the laptop is charging, and I remove the charging lead to take the laptop away from charging point, when I open the lid the display freezes, nothing works and I have to hard reset. This happens every time.

I have ran all software and hardware tests with no issues, so I really am stuck.

Any advice out there will be much appreciated.

Hi@SteveD06,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP ENVY X360 Laptop freezes.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Go to System and Security and then click on Power Options. In the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do. Next, click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link. Under the Shutdown settings section, uncheck the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option to turn off the feature.
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM. - this is done automatically, I often check for updates
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.  - Again done automatically
  • Go to System and Security and then click on Power Options. In the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do. Next, click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link. Under the Shutdown settings section, uncheck the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option to turn off the feature. - I have done this, so will advise in time if it cured problem
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works - I really do not want to do this, reinstalling should be last ditch

I will see if disabling fast startup helps - thank you

Now I know what's happening. I store the laptop on its side,  so when I try to use it as a laptop it has gone into tablet mode with orientation in portrait mode.

It will not automatically go to landscape and key board is disable, but touchscreen works.

I just need to disable tablet mode if I store it that way.
