I am attempting to connect an external monitor to the HDMI port on my laptop using a HDMI-DVI cable. My computer doesn't detect the external display. The problem is neither with the display or the cable, as this setup worked fine with my previous Dell laptop. I have attempted to disable the dedicated GPU, but have very limited BIOS functionality.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Step 1: Checking power
- Step 2: Displaying a built-in on-screen message
- Step 3: Fixing a bad video connection
- Step 4: Testing the video connection
- Step 5: Connecting the monitor to a different computer. Click here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-value-27-inch-displays/3989902/model/16462325/document/c0129... to complete the troubleshooting steps.
And, also refer to this article: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-value-27-inch-displays/3989902/model/16462325/document/c0006... By the end of the article you will be able to isolate the issue.
