Hi @deepavathraghu,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A blinking Caps Lock light on an HP laptop, combined with a display that is not showing anything, usually indicates a hardware issue. The number and pattern of the blinks can give specific information about the problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue.
Count the Blinks: Note the number of blinks and any accompanying patterns (e.g., long blinks, short blinks, continuous or paused).
Check HP's Blink Code Reference: HP laptops use blink codes to indicate specific hardware issues. Check the HP support website or your laptop's user manual to identify what the blink code means.
Power Cycle the Laptop:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try to turn on the laptop again.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all peripheral devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and try to turn on the laptop.
Reseat the Memory Modules:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
- Open the laptop's back cover.
- Locate the RAM modules, remove them, and then reinsert them carefully.
- Close the back cover, reconnect the power adapter, and try to turn on the laptop.
Connect to an External Display:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI or VGA cable.
- Turn on the external monitor and the laptop.
- If the external monitor displays properly, the issue might be with your laptop's internal display.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- If your laptop turns on but the display remains blank, you might still be able to run HP's hardware diagnostics.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the power button and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Select System Diagnostics or Diagnostics and run the tests.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please provide the number and pattern of the Caps Lock blinks, as this information will help to diagnose the specific hardware problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
