Have checked both dxdiag and Nvidia control panel (screenshots below) and found the laptop display is connected to Intel HD Graphics processor instead of the available dedicated GPU 650M. Is it possible to switch to GPU for the display? Please let me know any hardware mod or hack to make it a possibility.

Hi @k7at0s

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I am here to help you with it.

To switch to the dedicated NVIDIA GPU:

1. Open the NVIDIA control panel.

One way to do this is by right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and selecting NVIDIA control panel.

2. Navigate to 3D settings > Manage 3D settings.

3. Open the Program settings tab and select your game from the dropdown menu.

4. Select Preferred graphics processor for this program from the second dropdown menu. Your NVIDIA GPU should appear as "High-performance NVIDIA processor"

5. Save your changes.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you but I'm not asking about how to open Nvidia control panel or how to select a GPU for a game/application. I'm specifically asking about the monitor display itself. If you see the Nvidia control panel screenshot I've attached, it says the display is connected to the Intel GPU and the VGA port (extended display) to the Nvidia GPU. I know if I connect an external display it will be taken care of by the Nvidia GPU. All I'm asking is how can I switch the current display to the Nvidia GPU. Is it possible via a hardware tweak?

Alright!

Could you try the below steps and let me know the outcome of it?

A. Uninstall, and then reinstall, the latest graphics card driver.
B. Make sure that your Nvidia graphics card is set as the default graphics card.

Here are the steps on how to set it to default.

1. Open the "Nvidia Control Panel".
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings" under 3D Settings.
3. Click on the "Program Settings" tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop-down list.
4. Now select "preferred graphics processor" in the drop-down list. (You can see what the automatic option is listed as a global setting) If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select a High-performance Nvidia processor.

Once it is running on the right one, test the system again and see if the problem persists.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

First of all there's no issue. I've been playing games and running applications by selecting Nvidia GPU for almost a decade. I'm asking about the display to be particular. Display as in desktop, taskbar, wallpaper, etc.
