I have a Envy laptop with a Nvidia graphics card installed. The screen resolution is set to the maximum currently. However, when I play games, I would like the display on my laptop to show up smaller than it currently does. This will show more of my game on the screen. Is there any way to change the Windows 10 display scaling below 100%? The Windows 10 minimum is 100% may go to change the scaling. Is there any other way to change the display to show up smaller on the screen? I have looked at numerous websites to try and find an answer to the issue. The answer to the issue involve the display resolution. However, my resolution is already at maximum. Does anyone know a solution for this? If so, please let me know? Also, if you need further information, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand you want information on Laptop display resolution and scaling,
Since its related to the game alone, I recommend you utilize the game settings to change the resolution according to your preferences,
If you need to make overall changes to the OS, you could utilize the Intel video graphics to make the changes.
Use this link for details on your Intel Catalyst center: Click here

The game I play most ( Age of Empires: Castle Siege) does not have an option to adjust the video on screen. Therefore, whatever the display is on the laptop is what the game uses, I think. If I could change the display for that one game, that would be wonderful. I have not been able to find a way in Windows 10 to do this. The resolution of my computer graphics is set to the maximum. While the scaling is set to the 100% minimum. I know I cannot increase the resolution, but, if I could change the scaling to under 100%, I could get the video all my game to display smaller and fit on the screen better. I tried your suggestions and went to the website you mentioned and tried their suggestions, but the video stayed the same. Do you have any other suggestions? Please let me know. Thank you.

Thank you for the update,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
One gamer to another, I'll ensure you get back on and win that game 😉
Been an AOE fan myself, that said, the resolution issue is one of those I've gone through as well, this happens because the graphics card doesn't have support for your monitor resolution,
You could start by updating the graphics card using the HP Website: Click here
Followed by installing the latest Direct X application (should be a part of the AOE: Castle Siege, please check and if not install from here)
Since this is one of those known issues: Click here to visit the intel support as they have a few solutions as well

I chatted with Nvidia support this evening. Come to find out, my Envy laptop has both a Nvidia and an Intel graphics card. Bad news is, the laptop display looks to be custom set to use the Intel 4600 graphics driver exclusively. My new question is, how do I use Intel graphics control panel to adjust the scaling on my laptop to below 100%? Can this even be done? Where do I find the Intel graphics control panel? can the system be switched to using Nvidia graphics card instead of the Intel graphics card? Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give me to resolve this issue.

You've done a remarkable job performing the steps suggested earlier, great work 🙂
And don't worry, as we should be able to fix this up with a few more steps and I'll be with you until we ensure this issue is fixed.
I understand you've had a chat with the Nvidia and you want to know about the Nvidia control panel,
I've listed below all the details about the control panel and options of scaling the display on your laptop.
Follow this link to find the Nvidia Control Panel: Click here
There are scaling options provided in the "adjust desktop size and position" section of the NV control panel.
By default, all scaling is performed on the display, however, you can set it up so the GPU performs all scaling operations (like I have it).
There's also three different scaling options, please take your time in going through the same.
Let me know how that pans out,
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution.
And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.

NVidia support said that since I have both a Nvidia and a Intel graphics card, and the PhysX configuration shows that the laptop display is connected to the Intel graphics Because of that, the support tech said that the Nvidia Control Panel will not show the display settings therefore, changing the scaling within the Nvidia Control Panel is probably not possible. Is there a way, to connect my laptop display to the Nvidia graphics card? That would solve my problem. Howver, I do not know the way to do that. Through the Intel graphics Control Panel, there is a way to set the vertical and horizontal size of the screen. I was not sure about what numbers to enter. I would prefer changing the laptop display to the Nvidia graphics card instead of the Intel graphics card. Is there a way to do this? I assume that since the laptop display is defaulted to the Intel graphics card that my laptop is not even using the Nvidia graphics card. So, until I can change to using the NVidia graphics card or someone explains to me what to enter the custom display options of the Intel graphics control program, I am temporarily' stuck. if you have any further information for me I would appreciate hearing from you. If you would like me to try anything else I would also like to hear from you. Thank you for all your assistance with this problem. I look forward to hearing card. from you with any new information you can give me.

I set up one of my game programs to utilize the Nvidia graphics card. I think this work. However, when I go to the Nvidia Control Panel, the only settings are 3D settings. There are no display settings. So while my game might be using the Nvidia graphics card, there is no way Nvidia Control Panel to modify the display settings. More specifically, the scaling. I would like to get more of the game on my laptop screen. There way to do this? I am not even sure that anything is even using the Nvidia graphics card. sorry if this is duplicate information. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.
