Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

I have an external monitor connected to my laptop and when i move the cursor to the laptop my screen goes dark and a horizontal white line appears

accross the screen. If i move the curser around the screen will eventually come on and i can click on the link as long as it is lettered in black. If I try to

click on a link in blue lettering the screen will go blank. Has anyone had anything like this occur? I'm thinking that the screen is going out because everything  works

fine from the external monitor.

Hi@LUG70,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Laptop screen is getting horizontal white lines.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.

Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if the screen is blurry goes dark and gets white lines. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.

If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the screen.

Yes, I own an HP Pavilion 15cr laptop.

My display started shaking and then it started going black, but then the display was totally useless. I had computer repair shops trying to rip me off $200 and they did no diagnostic tests.
HP Smartfriend were horrible.  I have a friend who understands computers,   He told me to plug the laptop via HDMI to a monitor to determine whether it was the screen or the screen cable.

It worked I was able to use the computer display via HDMI using the laptop keyboard to a monitor.  I used it for a year.   Bottom line is if you do not have strong manufacturer support that stand behind the product you might as well buy another computer
