Hi @pspais ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with a freezing and glitching laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your laptop, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure that your operating system and graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP official website to download the latest drivers.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart your laptop and boot into Safe Mode. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it could indicate that a third-party application or driver is causing the issue. You can then try uninstalling recently installed programs or updating drivers.

Run System Diagnostics:

  • Most laptops come with built-in diagnostic tools. Check your laptop's manual or support website for instructions on how to run system diagnostics. This can help identify hardware issues.

Check for Overheating:

  • Overheating can cause performance issues. Ensure that your laptop's cooling system is functioning correctly. Clean any dust from the vents and consider using a cooling pad.

Hardware Check:

  • If the problem persists, it may be a hardware issue. Consider checking the RAM and hard drive for errors. Most operating systems have built-in tools for this purpose.

Restore to a Previous State:

  • If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your laptop to a previous restore point. This will revert your system to a state where it is working correctly.

Backup and Reinstall Operating System:

  • As a last resort, you might consider backing up your important data and performing a clean reinstall of your operating system. This can eliminate any software-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
