Hi, I'm having a problem with my laptop HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC where it will become laggy everytime I play games while charging. So basicly games run flawless and smooth when I do not charge my computer but right when I plug it in I go from 65-70 fps to about 10-15 fps. Its a massive drop and I can now only play my laptop for a hour until I have to charge it again. Can someone please help me out? I've tried to update the BIOS and other stuff but it still didn't change. here some of the specs that my laptop has.

Thank you for choosing the HP Support Forums, a community energized by solutions, as we are eager to help resolve your concerns,
I am Riddle_Decipher and I'm at your service (Like a Genie, however, without magic powers) 😉
As I understand the FPS reduces or laptop lags when the adapter is connected to the PC,
Here are a few things that should help your cause:
Right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.
By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.
If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.
Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,
And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!
That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

sorry for late reply I was quite busy yesterday,
Thank you for your reply and suggestion, I already tried using the Nvidia control panel before and already set the setting and focus on performance to increase the performance, I also put the battery setting on high performance while it's plugged in, but it seems that the laptop still lags whenever I play while the adapter plugged in. Do you have any other solution? i would appreciate it if you have other solution for me. Thanks

@Satria01 As a matter of fact, I do have a solution for you, let's try the below steps:
Open the power settings, then click "change plan settings" beside the "balanced (recommended)" option. Then click "change advanced power settings" on the screen that appears. In the dialog box, scroll down and expand "Multimedia settings". Then expand "when playing video" and then change the "plugged in" option to balanced.
If this doesn't do it, you may need to get yourself a laptop cooler (external accessory to keep the device cool) and go for a bigger adapter, so that more power is supplied to your computer and the same should solve the issue, however, be careful as most high-voltage power supplies may not be supported by the laptop, I suggest you try an alternate adapter and check if it resolves the issue before purchasing one, perhaps at the local tech store!
Keep us posted,
(We shall troubleshoot as a team, fight till the end and emerge - "victorious")

I have an external fan to help cool down the laptop, I tried your advice but it still didn't change anything, I haven't try using other adapter but thanks anyway, do you have other stuff that might help by any chance? thanks anyway, I appreciate your advice

@Satria01 I suggest you try with an alternate adapter, get your PC over to a local tech store and check if it works with a more powerful adapter before you purchase one (if the device is not within the warranty)
Let me know if that works as that could be the only other reason it isn't working normally.
