HP Pavilion 15-n260tx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I recently bought an LG 27GL850 monitor. I tried connecting it to my laptop, but it is not detecting it. It works fine with another laptop, which runs Win 10. I tried installing and reinstalling drivers from the HP driver website and Intel Graphics website as well, to no avail. Please let me know if any extra details and information is needed. Thanks.

The specs of your machine is

                  https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04159822

and monitor

                https://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-27GL850-B

How do you connect them ?  The HDMI port on your machine won't work with the HDMI port on your monitor. It WON'T give you 2560 x 1440  resolution, only 1920 x 1080.

Regards.

So you mean to say that the HDMI versions are totally incompatible? I had seen my laptop having HDMI 1.2 vs 2.0 for the monitor. Is there no way to get a display out in this monitor?

@mouri11

Sorry no, you definitely won't get resolution of the monitor at 60Hz, you may get it down to 24Hz or 30Hz. An expensive dock may help but I have not tested them (too expensive) therefore very hard to say which one.

Please try
