Hi @Purva_05,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Notebook 15g's webcam may be facing a conflict or driver issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot.

Close All Applications Using the Camera

  • Ensure no other apps are using the webcam. Close any programs that may be accessing the camera, such as video conferencing apps (e.g., Zoom, Skype, etc.), social media apps, or other camera-related software.

Check Camera Permissions

  • For Windows 10 or 11:
    1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
    2. Ensure that Camera access is allowed for apps.
    3. Scroll down and make sure the apps you want to use the camera with are enabled.

Check Device Manager for Camera Issues

  1. Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Imaging Devices section and locate your webcam.
  3. Right-click the camera and select Uninstall device. Confirm if prompted.
  4. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Update Camera Drivers

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your webcam under Imaging Devices and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Check for Conflicting Software

  • Sometimes, software like antivirus programs or third-party camera apps can cause conflicts with the webcam. Temporarily disable or uninstall them to check if the camera starts working.

Test with the Built-in Camera App

  • Open the Camera app on your laptop (type "Camera" in the Windows search bar) and see if it works. If the app gives an error, note the message and look up specific troubleshooting based on it.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates that might include fixes for webcam issues.

Reinstall Webcam Software

  • If your laptop came with specific webcam software (e.g., HP Camera), reinstall it from the HP support website to ensure compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
