Recently HP support assistant installed a BIOS update for my laptop.  Ever since this installation, my laptop's screen has been flickering almost constantly, and sometimes goes black for an extended period (~30 seconds) before turning back on and flickering again.  This makes the computer almost unusable.  I attached a second display, and while the main display flickers, the external monitor works fine.  The flickering is especially severe when I move the cursor.

I have installed the latest windows updates, and no updates are available from HP support assistant.  Device manager shows the latest display drivers have already been installed.  I ran HP's hardware diagnostic tools and it says all system components are functioning normally.  I tried doing a "hard reset" by holding down the power button, and this fixed the problem for a few days, but it has since started again.  Should I roll back to the previous BIOS version, or is there a better solution?  Thanks in advance for your help.

It turns out that one of my display adapters became corrupted following a recent bios update.  An HP support representative helped me to reinstall the bios, reinstall the display drivers, and fix remaining issues using sfc in the command prompt.  The issue appears to be resolved.
