Hi @ROninof8009,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop screen is flickering at low brightness and the issue is not detected by BIOS diagnostics or hardware/software checks, it may be related to the screen’s backlight, display panel, or drivers. Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Update Display Drivers

  • Update Graphics Driver: Go to Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select Update driver. Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Update Monitor Driver: In Device Manager, expand Monitors, right-click on your monitor, and select Update driver.

2. Check for BIOS and Firmware Updates

  • Update BIOS: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model. Follow the instructions to update the BIOS if needed.

3. Adjust Brightness and Power Settings

  • Power Options: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and check your power plan settings. Make sure that settings related to screen brightness and power saving are configured properly.
  • Adaptive Brightness: Disable adaptive brightness if it's enabled. Go to Settings > System > Display and check if adaptive brightness is turned on. Disable it if necessary.

4. Perform a Display Calibration

  • Calibrate Display: In Windows, go to Settings > System > Display, and click Advanced display settings. Use the Display Calibration tool to recalibrate the screen.

5. Check for Interference or Hardware Issues

  • External Monitors: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the flickering persists. If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue may be with the laptop’s screen or internal components.
  • Cable Connections: If you're comfortable opening your laptop, check the internal connections of the display cable. Loose or damaged connections can cause flickering.

6. Inspect for Software Conflicts

  • Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to check if any third-party software or services are causing the flickering. Type msconfig in the search bar, go to the Services tab, and check Hide all Microsoft services. Click Disable all, then restart the laptop.

7. Check Display Refresh Rate

  • Refresh Rate Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display, and click Advanced display settings. Check the Refresh rate and set it to the recommended value.

8. Run Diagnostics

  • HP Hardware Diagnostics: If you haven’t already, run a full hardware diagnostic test. Restart your laptop and press F2 during startup to access HP Hardware Diagnostics.

9. Inspect for Physical Damage

  • Check for Damage: Look for any visible signs of damage on the laptop screen or screen bezel. Physical damage can sometimes cause display issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
