HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed recently that when I opened documents on my computer that I had seen on other computers, that their colours seemed to be more vibrant or had higher saturation. When I borrowed someone else's laptop for a direct comparison, I saw that my laptop had much duller yellows. But when I pushed back the screen to give me an extreme viewing angle, the colours I saw exactly matched the other laptop screen.

Is there anything I can do to correct this issue? Or did I just buy a laptop with a bad screen and didn't notice until now?

@AnonymousKing, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop screen that only shows correct colors at extreme angles!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I totally get how frustrating it can be when colors don’t look as vibrant as expected, especially when you notice the difference side by side. From what you’re describing, it sounds like the display on your HP 15.6" Laptop PC 15-e2000 might have a more limited color range compared to other screens. .

That being said, let’s try a few things to see if we can improve the color quality:

Check Display Settings

Go to Settings > System > Display and see if adjusting the brightness or color settings helps.

Click on Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and look for the Color Management tab to tweak color profiles.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

Expand Display adapters, right-click on your graphics driver (Intel or AMD), and select Update driver.

If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling the driver and then restarting your laptop—Windows should reinstall it automatically.

Calibrate the Display

Type Color Calibration in the Windows search bar and follow the on-screen steps to fine-tune your display.

Check Night Light & Power Settings

Make sure Night Light is turned off (Settings > Display > Night Light).

If you’re on battery mode, your laptop might be adjusting colors to save power. Try switching to Best Performance mode under power settings.

If none of these improve the issue, it’s possible that the display panel itself has a more limited color range.  Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for the reply.

The colour calibration is the solution that worked for me. Turns out the default gamma on my screen is super high and there was a significant blue colour bias.
