Hi @Parul30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Display issues like flickering or dimming can be caused by a variety of factors including hardware or software problems. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with your HP Pavilion 14 laptop display:

Step 1: Restart Your Laptop

  1. Simple Restart: Restart your laptop to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve temporary glitches.

Step 2: Check Display Settings

  1. Adjust Brightness: Ensure that the brightness settings are set correctly. You can adjust the brightness using the function keys (often F2 and F3) or through the display settings in Windows.
  2. Display Resolution: Make sure the display resolution is set to the recommended setting. Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, and adjust the resolution if needed.

Step 3: Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  1. Update Drivers:
    • Go to the Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
    • Expand the Display adapters section.
    • Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  2. Reinstall Drivers:
    • If updating doesn’t help, you can try reinstalling the drivers. Uninstall the graphics driver from the Device Manager and then restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Step 4: Check for Physical Damage

  1. Inspect for Damage:
    • Carefully inspect the screen and hinges for any visible damage. A loose or damaged display cable can cause flickering and dimming.
    • Gently move the screen back and forth to see if the flickering or dimming changes. If it does, the issue might be with the display cable or hinges.

Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Parul30,

Please find the next steps below.

Step 5: Connect to an External Monitor

  1. External Monitor:
    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI or VGA cable.
    • If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue is likely with your laptop’s display or its connections.
    • If the external monitor also flickers, the issue might be with the graphics card or drivers.

Step 6: Run Built-in Diagnostic Tests

  1. HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly during startup to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the display tests to check for any hardware issues.

Step 7: BIOS Update

  1. Update BIOS:
    • Check for any BIOS updates on the HP Support website.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve the flickering and dimming issues with your HP Pavilion 14 laptop display. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to contact HP phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
