HP ENVY dv7-7302ss Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 11

When I boot the computer, sometimes, the light in the inferior left corner is off. After some minutes, and not always, the light becomes on.

Hi @CdeBlas,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the screen.

It seems like your HP ENVY dv7-7302ss Notebook PC is experiencing an intermittent issue with the LED light in the bottom left corner, which could be related to the power, battery, or hardware functionality. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot this issue:

1. Identify the LED Light Function:

  • Determine what the LED light in the bottom left corner represents. Commonly, this light indicates power status, battery status, or hard drive activity.
  • Refer to your laptop’s user manual or HP's support site to identify the specific function of this light.

2. Check Power and Battery Status:

  • If the LED light corresponds to the power or battery status, check if your battery is charging correctly or if there are any issues with the power adapter.
  • Use the laptop with and without the charger connected to see if there's any change in the LED behavior.

3. Run a Battery Test:

  • Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to perform a battery test:
    • Shut down your laptop.
    • Press the power button and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Press F2 to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu.
    • Select Component Tests and run the Battery Test.

4. Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Outdated BIOS or drivers can sometimes cause inconsistent hardware behavior.
  • Visit the HP Support website and check for BIOS updates or drivers related to power management.
  • Download and install any available updates.

5. Check for Loose Connections:

  • A loose or partially connected internal cable can cause LEDs or other components to behave erratically.
  • If you’re comfortable with opening your laptop, check the connections related to the LED and power circuits. Ensure all cables are properly connected.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @CdeBlas,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all external devices and remove the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reinsert the battery, plug in the power adapter, and start your laptop.

7. Check Windows Power Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
  • Check your power plan settings and ensure that nothing unusual is configured that might affect power LEDs.

8. Observe for Patterns:

  • Take note if the LED changes its status under certain conditions, such as the laptop heating up or running on battery versus plugged in.
  • This can help narrow down if the issue is thermal, related to power supply, or some other factor.

9. Test with an External Monitor:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to rule out display or graphics-related issues that could be indirectly affecting the LED status.

  • If the problem persists despite these steps, there could be an underlying hardware issue, such as a failing power circuit or LED controller.
  • Contact HP Phone Support or take your laptop to an authorized service center for a service.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
