This only deals with trying to find a manual download source for a hardware webcam called 'HP Wide Vision HD Camera' by HP. Obviously it is made in China so will have a factory name as well. The driver that is automatically supplied, either by 'Windows Updates' or device manager>Cameras>HP Wide Vision HD Camera>Update driver>'search automatically for drivers' is not fit for purpose. It is meant to be a HD camera which infers High Definition. It comes from Microsoft from 2006.
Of course, as many of us know, the definition is appalingly low in quality.
The drivers that were written for this camera are therefore NOT fit for purpose. Even if the laptop thinks it has the right driver for the camera it does not, as the quality is SO appalingly bad. There is also a reference to a 'USB video device' so there may be an issue with a Universal Serial Bus being used for the camera hardware. Another layer that is hidden that can cause the very bad quality. There is no 'USB video device' listed in Hardware Manager. It is nested within Cameras>HP Wide Vision HD Camera'
This has been going on for years and no one seems to care about getting to the grass roots issue. If your laptop is out of warranty you can choose to buy a HP 320 Full HD Webcam that can sit on top and connect by USB A. You get a lens cover too.
But that's not the point. The point is HP should not be selling laptops with inferior quality cameras, PCB's and drivers (from Microsoft in 2006!). It is not High Definition.
