The maximum available brightness on battery is less than when plugged into power (the screen dims when being unplugged). Is there a way to access maximum brightness, even on battery, accepting this will come at the expense of battery life? This would be preferable than having to lug the charger and extension cable outside whenever I want to use the laptop in the garden.
Brightness is set to maximum (using the slider or buttons). I have tried using high performance setttings, which makes no difference. I have seen mentioned that setting scan be changed under "Advanced power settings --> Display". My only option here is "Turn display off after" with no options for screen brightness. Drivers etc are up to date.
Is there any way to get round this? I don't think it is a fault, rather it is by design to preserve battery, but I feel I should be able to utilise maximum screen brightness on battery if I wish to do so. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

@PedroJamo Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you are facing issue with screen brightness.
Try going to power options. Right click on the battery icon in the task bar at bottom right of desktop and click on power options.
In the Windows click on change plan settings.
Now make sure the adjust plan brightness is set to max for "On battery" and click on save changes
