HP Envy Laptop

The camera and microphone do not work in any browser after an update in August although they both work properly in apps such as Skype. The system cannot detect any problems, I have checked settings, used various browsers - nothing works. When I go to device manager, it says "device install requested" for camera and "device migrated" for the microphone. Is there any way to fix it? Is it possible to remove the last update? If so, how do I do that?

@Justyna3

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details and I would appreciate if you could, perhaps elaborate on your concern.

  • What is the version of Windows you are using?
  • In which application on the browser the webcam and the microphone are not working?
  • Are you getting any error messages?

Look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day!

Take care.

Cheers!

I am using Windows 10. The camera and microphone are not working when I use Facebook/Zoom/Google Meetings. I've tried using Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

I get the following error whenever I try to call someone/answer a call on Facebook:

[translation: Error. Try to restart your browser or computer. If you want to learn more about solving problems, click here.]

I have of course tried to restart both my browser and computer.

Follow the steps below-

Try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Also, refer to the documents HP PCs - Webcam Troubleshooting and HP PCs - Resolving Microphone Problems to isolate and resolve the issue.

Keep us posted for further assistance.
