HP Pavilion x360 - 13-s052sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I recently attempted to update my touchscreen driver to allow for stylus compatibility, however now it has wiped functionallity completely. The driver is now missing, and is not featured under and other heading so I can't simply uninstall or rollback the driver.

I have just performed a hard reset and that did not restore functionality either, and when I search for updates it says there are none available for my device. HP recovery manager could also not restore them for me.

I have also tried updating the bios, chipset and graphics card drivers, but alas to no joy either.

I am told that my device has pen and touch compatibility, but with only two touch points.

I would deeply apreciated if this could be fixed, as I bought a touchscreen laptop, not a standard one.

Thanks,

Oisin

The touchscreen driver is provided by the Windows operating system on its own. It is not a driver that is suposed to be updated.

What driver did you install?

There is no touchscreen driver available for download at the HP driver download web page for your ultrabook.

The following link goes directly to the HP driver download web page for your ultrabook.

Have you used the UEFI Diagniostics to run the test for the touchscreen?

If you have HP PC Hardware Diagnostic version 6.4.0.0 installed, you can test the touchscreen to see if it is working,

Here is a link to the HP web document so you can download and install it.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

What driver did you install? - I can't remember exactly, but it was suggested to allow for compatibility for HP Active Stylus, however it seemed to whipe the touchscreen functionallity completely from my laptop, which now doesn't recognise any form of it.

Have you used the UEFI Diagniostics to run the test for the touchscreen? - I just tried to there, but touchscreen wasn't even an option for a component test. I did this however prior to my system restore, and it failed the test as I couldn't tap anything.

The touchscreen driver is provided by the Windows operating system on its own. - Is there any simple way to restore original touchscreen functionality then?

Thanks again,

Oisin

Invoke the Device Manager by holding down the Windows key and tapping the X key once. Select Device Manager in the menu that appears.

Look for the Human Interface Device and click on it to expand the list of devices.

Is there an HID compliant Touch screen in the list of devices? There should be.

Try right-clicking any device in Device Manager and then clicking on scan for hardware changes.  If the OS is healthy, it should install the touch screen driver after the scan.

Is there an HID compliant Touch screen in the list of devices? There should be - No that's what I was saying earlier, there isn't. I've looked into all simple solutions to this such as seeing is it under another name, or showing hidden devices and it's not there.

I've tried scanning for hardware changes and it also doesn't appear,

If it is not there that means that the OS is not detecting its presence.

Your next step,  after saving all important files and data to an external device, unfortunately, will be to use the recovery software and reinstall the operating system.

Hello again,

Thanks for all the help. I did arise at this and yesterday used the recovery software and reinstalled the operating system. However the problem still persists, which leads me to further problems.

Do you think there's any way of fixing this?

Thanks,

Oisin
