Microsoft Windows 11

PROBLEM:  HP USB-C G5 docking station and new HP laptop don't recognize my external monitor.

I just bought an HP ENVY 17-ch2035, with Windows 11.  I already owned an HP USB-C G5 docking station with the Thunderbolt connection.  I want to primarily use my laptop as a "desktop", or occasiionally use both laptop LCD and external monitor.  This was no problem with my previous HP and Win10.  Now, the only way the monitor is recognized is if I unplug and replug the Thunderbolt from the docking station.  Then the monitor will come on.   Or, if I completely shut down, the monitor has come on a few times.   But if the laptop goes to Sleep, I have to open the lid, unplug the Thunderbolt and plug it back in again before it will recognize the external monitor.   Sometimes 2 or 3 times before the monitor will stay engaged.    I've updated all the software for the G-5, and updated anything HP has for the laptop even though only 1-week old.   Any suggestions?   This docking station is supposed to be compatible.  The keyboard/mouse work all the time, just the monitor being flaky. Thanks!!
