I bought this model https://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=X7W54AA&opt=ABU&sel=ACC
but still doesn't work - will it only display via the HDMI and display port? I tried connecting via the usb-a and the HDMI but only the screen with the hdmi cable worked - not the one connected via usb-c

Great, thanks it worked. I bought a cable to covert the other hdmi to display port and now 2 external monitors working. Happy.
My next question is whether I should be able to get 3 or 4 external monitors working? If I have a hub with 4 hdmi or display ports - and the usb-c coming out the other end into the Envy - in theory it should work?

Please check the following list. Not all docks are compatible with your machine.

No idea since there are dozens of generations with hundreds of different models/products called HP Envy machines. We need to know exactly what is your HP Envy. You can find out using

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
