@Aprill2500, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Pavilion x360 pen is no longer working after a long period of disuse and a recent graphics card repair. Since your touchscreen is still functional, the issue seems isolated to the pen itself. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this:
Check Pen Battery or Charging
- If your pen uses a rechargeable battery, ensure it’s charged using the original charger or cable.
- If it uses a replaceable battery (like AAAA), try replacing it with a fresh one.
- Some pens have an LED indicator, check if it lights up when charging or pressing the button.
Confirm Pen Compatibility
- Make sure your pen is compatible with your Pavilion x360 model. You can check compatibility here:
Update Firmware and Drivers
- Go to HP Support Assistant or manually update drivers:
- Visit: HP Support page - Official HP® Support
- Enter your laptop model (e.g., HP Pavilion x360 14-dwxxxx)
- Download and install the latest firmware, BIOS, and graphics/touch drivers.
Check Windows Ink Settings
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink
- Ensure pen features are enabled.
- Try writing in Windows Ink Workspace (search for it in Start Menu).
Bluetooth Pairing (if applicable)
- If your pen supports Bluetooth:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Remove and re-pair the pen if it appears in the list.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to test the touchscreen and pen input:
- Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly to enter diagnostics.
- Run the Touchscreen Test.
Try the Pen on Another Device
- If possible, test the pen on another compatible HP device to rule out hardware failure.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
