My new HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 (767L6AV)  does not recognise a Monitor connected via USB-C Port. The same Monitor and connection cable works perfectly on my old Laptop. When connect to my new Laptop I can hear the "click" sound, but the device is not recognised by computer.

Tried to follow instructions "How to reset BIOS" but can't get into Utility Menu during Startup. Also have no idea what would be the right version of BIOS.

I have no outstanding Updates sent from HP

Thank you

Hi @SPUTNIK2025_IB,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP 17.3-inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 (Product ID: 767L6AV) does not recognize an external monitor connected via USB-C, even though the same monitor and cable work fine on your older laptop.

Let’s break this down and guide you through the next steps.

How to Confirm USB-C Video Support

  1. Check HP’s official specs for your model:
    🔗 HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 (767L6AV) | HP® Support
  2. Look for terms like:
    • DisplayPort over USB-C
    • Alt Mode
    • Thunderbolt

If none of these is listed, your USB-C port does not support external displays.

Workarounds that you can try:

Option 1: Use HDMI Instead

Your laptop should have a standard HDMI port. Connect your monitor using HDMI directly.

Option 2: Use a USB Display Adapter

If HDMI is not an option, use a USB-A to HDMI adapter (DisplayLink-based):

  • These adapters convert USB data to a video output.
  • Make sure to install the DisplayLink drivers.

BIOS Access & Update

If you still want to check or reset BIOS:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Press the Power button, then immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.

If you want to update or roll back BIOS:

  • Go to the HP Drivers Page and download and try.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
