Let's start with some basic troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the issue with your camera and microphone on your HP Laptop 15-dw0xxx.

May I know the operating System?
 

1. Check Camera and Microphone Settings

Camera:

Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Make sure the toggle for Allow apps to access your camera is turned on.
  • Scroll down and ensure the specific app you are trying to use (e.g., Zoom, Skype) has access to the camera.

Device Manager:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Cameras section.
  • Right-click on your camera device and select Update driver.
  • If the camera is disabled, right-click and select Enable device.

Camera App:

  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu to test if the camera works there.

Microphone:

Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
  • Ensure the toggle for Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on.
  • Scroll down and ensure the specific app you are trying to use has access to the microphone.

Device Manager:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section.
  • Right-click on your microphone device and select Update driver.
  • If the microphone is disabled, right-click and select Enable device.

Sound Settings:

  • Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select Open Sound settings.
  • Under Input, make sure your microphone is selected.
  • Click Device Properties and test the microphone.

2. Run the Troubleshooter

Camera Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Additional troubleshooters.
  • Find and run the Camera troubleshooter.

Microphone Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Additional troubleshooters.
  • Find and run the Recording Audio troubleshooter.

3. Update Windows and Drivers HP 15-dw0000 Laptop PC Software and Driver Downloads

Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates and install any available updates.

Driver Update:

  • Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop's model number.
  • Download and install the latest camera and audio drivers.

4. BIOS Settings

  1. Check BIOS:
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
    • Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
    • Look for settings related to the camera and microphone, and make sure they are enabled.

5. Hardware Issues

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's possible there could be a hardware problem with the camera or microphone. In this case, consider contacting HP Support for further assistance or a potential repair.
