Hi all,
I have a problem with the camera on my HP ENVY Laptop 15, I can not find the camera in my device manager, and the driver can not be found to reinstall. I was getting in touch with the Microsoft team because this must happen during one of the Windows updates; however, without luck. I have noticed as well that my lighting points from sound and mic have disappeared after one of the driver updates.... please advise error 0xA00F4244 (camera is built in) .Many thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi @Luxi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Check Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Ensure that “Allow apps to access your camera” is turned on.
2. Check Device Manager
- Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Show Hidden Devices: In Device Manager, click on View and select Show hidden devices. This can help reveal if the camera is somehow hidden.
- Look for Imaging devices or Cameras. If you find your camera under those categories, try right-clicking and selecting Enable.
3. Update Camera Driver
- Download and install the latest camera driver from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Use HP Image Assistant to download and install the appropriate drivers and updates.
4. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Download and run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. This tool will help to identify hardware-related issues.
5. Roll Back Driver
- Open Device Manager: Locate your camera in Device Manager.
- Roll Back Driver: Right-click on the camera device, select Properties, click on the Driver tab, and then click Roll Back Driver.
6. Reinstall Windows Update
- Sometimes Windows updates might cause issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for recent updates and consider uninstalling recent updates that might have caused the issue.
I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi,
Thank you so much for all these. Unfortunately, I have already done all these steps, with no luck. I went to the website, but I could not find the webcam software/driver listed for my laptop. Please advise, where can I find the driver for Windows, Many thanks in advance for all your support.
