@Suzi15Q, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Pavilion Camera Lighting Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Pavilion camera is only lighting half of your screen during meetings, there could be a few potential causes ranging from software settings to hardware issues. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Video Call Software Settings

  • Adjust Camera Settings: Open the settings menu in your video call software (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and check for any camera settings that might affect lighting or screen display.
  • Update Software: Ensure your video call software is updated to the latest version.

2. Update Camera Drivers

  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager on your HP Pavilion.
  • Imaging Devices: Expand the 'Imaging Devices' section and find your camera.
  • Update Driver: Right-click on the camera and select 'Update Driver'. Follow the prompts to update the driver.

3. Light Conditions

  • Lighting: Ensure the room you are in is well-lit. Poor lighting conditions can cause uneven lighting on the video feed.
  • External Light Source: Use an additional light source to improve overall lighting conditions.

4. Camera Privacy Settings

  • HP Software: Use the HP pre-installed software (such as HP Command Center or HP Camera) to check if there are any privacy settings that might be affecting the camera's functionality.

5. Check Camera Lens

  • Clean Lens: Ensure the camera lens is clean and unobstructed.
  • Physical Damage: Inspect the camera for any physical damage that might cause the issue.

6. System Updates

  • HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant to check for any system updates that might include fixes for camera issues.
  • Windows Update: Ensure your operating system is also fully updated.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
