HP 15s-eq1000 Laptop PC (8WQ33AV)

My computer goes into hibernation mode after seconds of inactivity even though I have gone into the settings, changed it to not go into hibernation mode until 5 minutes of inactivity, and rebooted it. So how do I fix this?

If your HP 15s computer is still going into hibernation mode too quickly despite changing the settings, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

 

Power Options:

  • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Navigate to "Hardware and Sound" and then "Power Options."
  • Click on "Change plan settings" next to the selected power plan.
  • Adjust the "Put the computer to sleep" setting to your preferred time or set it to "Never" if you don't want it to go into hibernation.

Advanced Power Settings:

  • In the Power Options window, click on "Change advanced power settings."
  • In the Advanced settings tab, look for "Sleep" and expand it.
  • Adjust the "Sleep after" setting to your desired time.
  • Also, check the "Hibernate after" setting and set it accordingly.
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause power management issues. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can check and update them through the Device Manager.

Check for Third-Party Software:

  • Some third-party software may override your power settings. Check if there is any third-party software installed that might be causing the issue. You can temporarily uninstall or disable such software to see if the problem persists.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Check if there are any specific power management settings in the BIOS/UEFI of your computer. Access the BIOS/UEFI during the startup process (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or Del) and look for power-related settings.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for power management issues.

Scan for Malware:

  • Perform a full system scan for malware and viruses. Malicious software can sometimes interfere with system settings.

Create a New Power Plan:

  • If the issue persists, create a new custom power plan with the desired settings. Set this new plan as the active one and see if the problem is resolved.

 

If you've tried these steps and the issue persists, there might be a deeper problem that requires further investigation.
