HP Envy x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-ac0000 (8Z1Z8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My five megapixel webcam has a green tinge to it. I had returned one previously for the same problem. I've done all necessary updates uninstalled and reinstalled. Is anybody else having this problem with their 16-in HP 2-in-1?

Hi @RonStransky,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The green tint issue on the HP Envy x360 16-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC's 5MP webcam can be caused by software, driver issues, or even hardware defects. Here’s a guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve it.

Update the Camera Driver:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Imaging devices or Cameras.
  • Right-click on the webcam and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Install any available updates, including optional updates.

Adjust Camera Settings:

  • Open the Camera app in Windows.
  • Check for brightness, contrast, or color adjustments in the app’s settings.
  • If using a third-party app for video calls (Zoom, Teams, etc.), explore its video settings for any adjustments.

Test with HP Camera Software:

  • Install or open the HP Camera Control Center (available in the HP Support Assistant or Microsoft Store).
  • Check if the tint persists and experiment with the settings.

Uninstall and Reinstall Camera Driver:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the camera, select Uninstall device, and confirm.
  • Restart the laptop, and Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Try a Different App:

  • Use another camera app (like Skype, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams) to verify if the green tint persists across apps.

Reset the Camera App:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.
  • Scroll to Camera, click Advanced options, and then click Reset.

Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website for your device.
  • Check if there's a BIOS update or specific firmware for the camera.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I did retry all those steps. Nothing I did made any change. The webcam still has a greenish tint, much worse that all my earlier HP laptops, which never had a webcam problem. Thanks for trying to help, we are very disappointed
