@Tarheel66, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To connect your HP Chromebook to an external monitor using a USB-C to HDMI adapter, ensure the following steps are followed correctly:
Check Compatibility of the Adapter: Make sure the USB-C to HDMI adapter you are using is compatible with your HP Chromebook and supports video output. Some adapters only provide charging capabilities.
Update Chromebook: Ensure that your Chromebook is running the latest updates:
- Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Check for updates.
Connect Properly:
- Connect the adapter securely to the Chromebook.
- Plug the HDMI cable into the adapter and the other end into the monitor.
- Make sure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.
Chromebook Display Settings:
- Click on the time at the bottom right corner to open the menu.
- Go to Settings > Device > Displays. Check if the external monitor is listed and adjust the settings to extend or mirror the display as needed.
Test Adapter and Cable: Try using the adapter and HDMI cable with another computer or device to ensure they are functioning properly.
Restart the Chromebook: Sometimes, simply restarting the Chromebook can resolve minor software glitches.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
