I bought this computer brand new. For many years now the touch screen has not worked. I have posted on here and never has anyone helped me. The [edited] people at Smart HP have not helped either. They have done a whole bunch of things to this laptop it has not worked. I need this fixed. i have also paid for maintenance and nothing. No one knows anything. All they do is sell you **bleep** and then leave out to dry when something breaks. I cant stand HP. Sorry if I am mad.

Hi @bvaldes1967,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I hear your frustration, and you’re right to feel upset, especially after investing in a premium HP ENVY x360 and still facing touchscreen issues after all this time. You’ve shown a lot of patience, and it’s disappointing when key features don’t work as expected.
Let’s take a fresh, focused approach together. I’ll keep things clear and only go over what’s truly necessary—no repeating steps you’ve already tried. We’ll work through this one step at a time.
Let’s Start with a Clean Troubleshooting Checklist:
1. Check if the Touchscreen is Detected
- Press Win + X → Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- Look for an HID-compliant touch screen.
- If it’s missing, that’s a red flag—Windows isn’t detecting the touchscreen hardware.
- If it’s there but disabled, right-click and choose Enable.
2. Scan for Hardware Changes
- In Device Manager, click Action → Scan for hardware changes.
- This can sometimes re-detect the touchscreen if it’s been dropped by the system.
3. Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for any Touchscreen or Advanced settings that might be disabled.
- If you don’t see anything touchscreen-related, that’s okay—some BIOS versions don’t expose it.
4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the Touchscreen Test (if available) under Component Tests.
5. Windows Services Check
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service.
- Make sure it’s running and set to Automatic.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
