Hi @SantoshRohr24-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC is stuck on the system information screen and not showing the desktop, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Laptop

Sometimes, a simple restart can fix the issue.

  • Hold the power button until the laptop powers off completely.Wait for a few seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on.

2. Check BIOS Settings

Ensure the BIOS settings are correctly configured.

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.Once in the BIOS, navigate through the menus to check if all settings are correct (e.g., boot order, enabled devices).Save any changes and exit the BIOS.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.

  • Turn off the laptop and disconnect all external devices (e.g., USB drives, printers).
  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any remaining power.Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.

4. Boot into Safe Mode

Booting into Safe Mode can help you diagnose and fix software issues.

  • Turn off the laptop, then turn it back on and immediately start pressing F8 repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.Select Safe Mode and press Enter. If the laptop boots into Safe Mode, you can troubleshoot and fix any software issues (e.g., uninstall recent software, update drivers).

5. Perform a System Restore

If the issue started recently, you can try performing a system restore.

  • Boot into Safe Mode (as described above).Once in Safe Mode, press Windows + R, type rstrui.exe, and press Enter to open System Restore.
  • Follow the prompts to choose a restore point and restore your system to a previous state.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

If the above steps don't work, there may be a hardware issue.

  • Check the laptop's internal components (RAM, hard drive) to ensure they are properly seated and functioning.
  • You may need to open the laptop to access these components. Refer to your laptop's service manual for instructions.

7. Reinstall the Operating System

As a last resort, you may need to reinstall the operating system.

  • Backup your data if possible.Use a recovery disk or USB drive with the Windows installation media to reinstall the operating system.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
