Hi @Sarthak30,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the brightness of your HP 15.6 Inch Laptop has suddenly reduced to almost 0% and you can't see much on the screen, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.
Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve display issues. Try restarting your laptop to see if the problem persists.
Check for Physical Issues:
- Ensure that the laptop's brightness controls are functioning properly. Many laptops have dedicated function keys to increase or decrease brightness. Look for these keys on your keyboard, usually represented by a sun icon.
- Make sure there is no physical obstruction in front of your laptop's screen that could be blocking the display.
Use Keyboard Shortcuts:
- If you have located the brightness control keys on your keyboard, press the appropriate keys to increase the brightness. These are typically Function (Fn) key combinations (e.g., Fn + F5 or Fn + F6).
- If your laptop has dedicated brightness buttons, try using those.
Connect to an External Monitor:
- If you have access to an external monitor, connect your laptop to it to see if the display appears normally. If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue may be with your laptop's screen.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and boot into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, the display settings are minimal, and this might help in troubleshooting the issue. To do this, press the F8 or Shift + F8 key while your laptop is booting up, and then select "Safe Mode."
Use Accessibility Options:
- If you're having trouble finding the cursor and navigating the system settings, you can use Windows' accessibility options. Press the Windows key and the Plus (+) key simultaneously to activate the built-in Magnifier tool, which can help you locate the cursor and navigate settings.
Use External Light:
- Shine an external light source, like a flashlight, onto the laptop screen to see if you can identify the display settings and increase the brightness.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause display issues. Try to update your graphics drivers to the latest version from the HP website.
System Restore:
- If the problem started recently, you might try a System Restore to a point when the laptop's display was working correctly. This will revert your system settings to an earlier state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
