Hi @BecT82,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the touchpad and mouse buttons on your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible laptop. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with hardware components.
- Restart your laptop and see if the touchpad and mouse buttons start working again.
Check Touchpad Settings:
- On your laptop, go to the "Settings" or "Control Panel" (depending on your operating system).
- Look for the "Mouse" or "Touchpad" settings.
- Ensure that the touchpad is enabled and that the settings are configured correctly.
- Some laptops have a physical switch or function key combination to toggle the touchpad on and off. Make sure it's enabled.
Update Touchpad Drivers:
- Open the Device Manager on your laptop.
- Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" category.
- Right-click on the touchpad device and select "Update driver."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the touchpad drivers. You can choose to search for updated drivers automatically or manually install drivers downloaded from the HP website.
Roll Back Touchpad Drivers:
- If updating the drivers doesn't help, you can try rolling back to the previous version of the touchpad drivers.
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the touchpad device and select "Properties."
- Go to the "Driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the touchpad and mouse buttons for any physical damage, such as cracks or debris.
- Clean the touchpad and buttons gently with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or grime that may be affecting their functionality.
Perform a System Restore (Windows):
- If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point in time when the touchpad was working correctly.
- Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu and follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to an earlier state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
