HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h1000 (754F7AV)

My mousepad dose not work at all on my laptop. I have tried searching on google to find a solution, but no luck. When I go to my Device Manager, I have I2C HID Device with an error. "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." Can you help?

Hello Jos1_, thank you for your response and the suggestion.

I actually ended up with contacting the HP Support via chat since my laptop was still under warranty. The HP Support took the following initial steps (Step 1 - 4):

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset.
1) Turn off the computer - Press and Hold power key for 10 seconds to turn off the device.
2) Disconnect the AC adapter.
3) Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
4) With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 30 seconds.
5) After 10 seconds Reconnect the AC adapter

Step 2: Perform BIOS Default - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xp1eJFzSEc.
1) Turn on the computer, and then press Esc key repeatedly to enter Startup Menu
2) Then press F10 to access BIOS Menu
3) Use the left and right arrow keys to select the Exit tab.
4) Select Load Setup Defaults using the up and down arrow keys, press enter, and then, when prompted, click Yes to save the changes and exit.
5) Select Save Changes and Exit using the up and down arrow keys, press enter, and then, when prompted, click Yes to save the changes and exit.

Step 3: Perform HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) Tests:
1) Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc key repeatedly, about once every second.
2) When the menu is displayed, press the f2 key.
3) On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4) Run, the fast test.

Step 4: Test the touchpad in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
1) On the main menu, click Component Tests.
2) To run the tests, click Mouse/Touchpad, select the test to run, and then click Run once. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.

NOTE: Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.

We performed the hardware test (Step 4) and found touchpad was still not working. So, the HP Support did a System Recovery with clean install of Windows 11 (removed everything such as files, preinstalled apps, etc.). It finally fixed the touchpad issue. After installing all Windows updates and the HP Software & Drives updates via the HP Support Assistance app, the touchpad  was still working.

Hello neko33, if what the technical service has told you is what to do, although many times that does not work, if you see that you have problems, let them look at it.

Greetings.
