HP ENVY x360 13.3 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 13-bf0000 (552D6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello I need help.

To briefly explain, last year I had the same problem with my precise touch and stylus driver where it stopped working which meant my touch screen was not responding. I asked for some help on here which I was given the option to update my bios, and it actually worked and my touchscreen was back up for a couple of months. Then a little while ago the same thing happened again where the driver had a power failure. I have tried and tried to update, delete, reinstall and download different drivers to help with this problem but nothing helps and its becoming ridiculous and hopeless. I even went back to the bios update, but that had failed after previous success. I got this laptop for the ability to use the touchscreen and after trying almost everything, nothing is succeeding. I dont even know if the original precise touch and stylus driver is still downloaded because of how many times I have messed with it to try and fix it. Please say there is a solution.

Thank you!

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds incredibly frustrating that the touchscreen on your HP ENVY x360 13-bf0000 isn't working, especially since it's a key feature of the device. Let's walk through a more advanced troubleshooting path to try and resolve this issue, assuming it's a driver, software, or power-related issue rather than a physical hardware failure.

🔍 Step-by-Step Fix Attempt

Check if Touchscreen is Still Detected by the System

Let’s make sure Windows recognizes the touchscreen:

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
  3. Look for:
    • HID-compliant touch screen
    • HID-compliant pen
  4. If either is missing, that’s likely the root of the issue.
    • If they’re grayed out or hidden, click View > Show hidden devices.
    • If they appear but are disabled, right-click and select Enable Device.

🔄Reinstall All HID Devices

In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices:

  1. Uninstall all HID-compliant touch screen, HID-compliant pen, and Intel(R) Precise Touch Device entries (if visible).
  2. Also remove I2C HID Device if present.
  3. Restart your laptop.
  4. Windows should auto-reinstall the default drivers after the restart.

🔌Check Windows Power Management Settings

Power management settings can sometimes cause issues with touch drivers:

  1. In Device Manager, right-click each I2C or HID devicePropertiesPower Management.
  2. Uncheck: "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
  3. Also:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Additional Power Settings.
    • Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
    • Expand USB settings, then USB selective suspend → Set to Disabled.
    • Expand PCI Express > Link State Power Management → Set to Off.

🌐Reinstall HP Drivers via HP’s Recovery Tool

Since you're unsure if the correct driver is still installed, let’s go back to basics:

  1. Download and install the HP Cloud Recovery Tool or use HP’s PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows.
  2. Use the "Component Tests" > Touch Screen test to confirm if the hardware is still functional.
  3. Alternatively, use HP Support Assistant:
    • Download: HP Support Assistant.
    • Go to the Updates tab → Check for updates.
    • Install anything under BIOS, firmware, chipset, touch, etc.

⚙️Install Specific Drivers (Manually)

From the official HP page for your model:

  1. Visit the HP Drivers page.
  2. Search your model: 13-bf0000 or use product number 552D6AV.
  3. Install:
    • Intel Serial IO Driver
    • Intel I2C Host Controller
    • Intel Integrated Sensor Solution
    • HP Pen Control Software (if available)
    • BIOS update (only if a newer version than your current one).

🧼 Reset Windows Components (Without Data Loss)

If this still doesn't work and hardware tests pass:

  1. Run an in-place Windows repair:
    • Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from Microsoft.
    • Reinstall Windows without removing your apps/files.
    • This fixes system corruption that SFC/CHKDSK might miss.

🧪 Try Touch in BIOS

To check if it’s definitely hardware-related:

  1. Reboot the PC.
  2. Enter BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or F2).
  3. If your BIOS supports touchscreen input, try touching the screen there.
    • If it works in BIOS: it’s a Windows/driver issue.
    • If it doesn't: the touch digitizer may have failed (hardware issue).

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the touchscreen issue on your HP ENVY x360.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately because i have been messing around with the drivers some of them arent there even when i look at the invisible ones, i think i have permanently deleted them. When I try to reinstall drivers from the hp website, I put in the correct details of my laptop however mine is 24H2 where as the highest option I can pick is 23H2 (idk if that makes a difference) but honestly when I install any driver it doesnt seem to do anything anyway. Ill keep trying but nothing seems hopeful 😞

Hi @Verity420,

Thank you for the response.

Based on everything you said, it seems like your HP Envy x360 touchscreen isn’t even being detected anymore, probably due to a corrupted or missing driver or possibly a failed touch digitizer. But don’t worry, we’ve still got a few more aces up our sleeve.

Restore Missing HID Devices

You might have uninstalled the driver packages, which means Windows doesn’t even know they ever existed anymore.

Go to this HP official driver page and enter your product number (e.g., 552D6AV).

Even if 24H2 isn’t listed, drivers for 23H2 still work! Windows 24H2 just isn’t listed yet because HP hasn't officially certified it.

Intel I/O Serial Driver

Intel Integrated Sensor Solution

Intel I2C Host Controller

HP Pen Control (if available)

Right-click the .exe > Run as Administrator

Restart.

HP UEFI Diagnostics – Touch Test

Before we go any further:

Shut down your laptop

Turn it on and press ESC repeatedly, then press F2 to open the HP UEFI diagnostics

Look under Component Tests > Touchscreen

Run the test and see if it detects input

If it fails here: It’s hardware, the digitizer is broken.

I hope this helps.
