HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa-0000 (8Z8P5AV)

i have an HP envy x360 and recently it has started freezing completely, if i open my browser and open youtube it will suddenly freeze and nor will my cursor/keyboard/touchscreen work. if i simply click on a link on whatsapp it will freeze and the only way it unfreezes is if i click on the power button for a prolonged amount of time, even after that same issue repeats. the computer freezes and after 5 minutes restarts by itself.

Hi @LZ_13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have your HP Envy x360 freeze and restart, especially when you're just trying to do something simple like watch YouTube or click a link. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help you get back to a smooth experience.

Steps to Fix Freezing and Auto-Restart Issues on HP Envy x360 14-fa0000 (Windows 11)

1. Run HP Performance Tune Check

HP offers a tool that scans and optimizes your system to prevent lockups and freezes:

2. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears temporary memory and forces a full system scan:

  • Shut down the laptop
  • Unplug the charger
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
  • Plug the charger back in and power on

3. Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause system instability:

4. Check for Overheating

Freezing followed by auto-restart can be a sign of thermal shutdown:

  • Make sure vents are clean
  • Avoid using the laptop on soft surfaces
  • Use a cooling pad if possible

5. Scan for Corrupt Apps

If the issue happens with specific apps (like WhatsApp or YouTube):

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
  • Check if any app is using excessive CPU or memory
  • Try reinstalling or updating those apps

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
