Hi @Betsy671,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have an issue with the Mouse. Let’s get your mouse working again! Here are some quick checks and fixes:

1. Check Physical Connections

  • If it’s a wired mouse, unplug and reconnect it to a different USB port.
  • If it’s wireless, replace batteries or recharge, and ensure the USB receiver is firmly connected.

2. Restart Your Notebook

  • A simple restart often refreshes drivers and resolves temporary glitches.

3. Enable Touchpad (if using built-in)

  • Press Fn + F5/F6/F7 (varies by HP model) to toggle the touchpad.
  • Look for a small LED on the touchpad; orange means disabled, white means enabled.

4. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X → Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. If you see your mouse listed:
    • Right-click → Update driver.
    • If it’s missing or has a warning, reinstall the driver via HP Support Assistant.

5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart → Press Esc → F2 → Run Input Device Test to check for hardware issues.

6. Windows Settings

  • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse.
  • Ensure the mouse is detected and adjust settings if needed.

If none of these work, let me know:

  • Is it the touchpad, an external wired mouse, or a wireless mouse?
  • Do you see any errors in Device Manager?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
