I just received my third monitor. I tried to purchase the same monitor as my other two or at least in the same family. My new monitor is the V24v G5 (23.8 inch Diagonal FHD Monitor). All three monitors are running through the same docking station. When I plug my work “Thinktop” laptop into the docking station all three monitors come up. When my son plugs his HP laptop into the docking station all three monitors come up. However when I plug my HP Spectra laptop into the docking station only my two older monitors come up. I downloaded the driver for my new monitor to my HP Spectra laptop and sill only my old monitors come up. I have called customer service 30 plus times to only get a busy signal. What do I need to do to get my third monitor to activate on my HP Spectra laptop?

Hi @DWF1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Docking Station Compatibility: Ensure that the docking station supports the features you need for your setup, such as running multiple monitors simultaneously. HP docking stations typically support connections through HDMI, USB Type-C, and DisplayPort settings, among others.

Monitor Configuration: Check the resolution settings for each display. Sometimes, the docking station might limit the resolution based on the total available bandwidth.

Driver Update: Make sure that your HP laptop has the latest drivers installed, including graphics drivers and docking station drivers. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website by entering the model number of your docking station.

Display Settings: Adjust the display settings on your laptop to ensure it recognizes and configures the additional monitors correctly:

  • Windows OS: Go to the Control Panel, select "Display," and configure the external monitors according to your desired settings. You may need to set the new monitor as the secondary or tertiary display manually. Use the Windows key + P shortcut for quick access to display settings.

Cable Connections: Confirm that all cables, such as HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB Type-C, are securely connected to the monitors and the docking station. Improper connections might prevent detection of the monitor.

Docking Station Setup: If your docking station supports a higher display resolution mode, ensure it is enabled if needed. For instance, the HI-RES button might need activation on certain models to support higher resolutions and multiple displays.

I hope this helps.
