HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f1000 (508R7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I spilled liquid on a Spectre I bought in 2018. I was very happy with the display, which is why I replaced it with another Spectre. But unfortunately, the OLED display on the new Spectre (67W82UA#ABA) seem to be substantially lower quality. The brightness and vibrancy is good, but the white and lighter grey areas are fairly grainy. There are small 'pixels' in these light areas while using several apps (so I don't think it's a issue with an individual app). It's like my low resolution monitor at work, but not nearly as bad. The problem goes away when I hook it up to a 4k HP desktop monitor. So it seems like it's the display panel on the laptop. Theres also a faint halo around the edge of the screen that's kind of annoying, especially on a BRAND NEW display. My Galaxy S9+ phone and high resolution Galaxy tablet don't have this problem. Is this just the way it is with the displays in recent Spectres or is there I chance I received a defective/damaged/substandard display? Disappointed, especially considering how much I paid. I'm considering returning it to Best Buy.

Thanks.

I have just purchased the same laptop to also replace my previous x360. No fault with previous, I just wanted the latest hardware. However, I too can see how bad the screen is. So much so that I think I will be returning it if this is a hardware problem.

I returned mine and got the Acer Swift Edge. It rocks! Beautiful display: very sharp, vibrant colors, wide color gamut and perfect white areas. Note, it does not have a touchscreen and it does bend (standard laptop). But I don't need or want either of those.

HP, you lost a customer. Quit putting sub par displays in your high end laptops

I'm on with HP right now. Requesting a replacement just in case it's just a bad screen.
